I agree with Klint.

a 300 mph plus accident would have WRECKED that car and he had tonnes of protection. not cynical and it falls at a perfect time for imporving rates of TG

it is great for the air amublance services up there though to get support and to save more lives.
 
I watched the accident as it happened which was on a movie clip on the BBC website until it was pulled at about 6am the next morning (convenient!).

The parachute had deployed and the rocket car had slowed down considerably when it went off the runway and started rolling.

I'm no expert, but the rocket car was doing about a third of its original speed when it crashed

I saw the movie clip with my own eyes and watched it numerous times.
