Mild Scratches on leather

I stupidly volunteereed to look after a couple dogs today and unfortunately I was in the M5 which has the extended heritage nappa leather option in black.

Left the dogs in the car, had lunch, came back and found they had pissed in the passenger footwell - not only that I found mild surface scratches on the center armrest and over the front seats that has come up a dark grey.

I was wondering if there was a solution to restore the leather to it's former glory without going extreme?

Thanks

Cheers Dan,

I've had a look into that, but sounds abit to specialised for my liking, there no doubt will be no one qualified enough over here to perform such a treatment to satisfactory standards.

I was wondering if something like Autogylm Leather Cleaner/Conditioner or something similar would fix or mask the problem? I should of got pictures really, would of been alot more helpful in finding a solution - the scratches are mild but have ruined what was a blemish free car.

Thanks again.

the kits basically have stuff that fills any scratches etc. Sounds like you may have to DIY but can always do a quick test somewhere not visible like under the seat to check it all looks ok?

I used this stuff pretty successfully on my old M3 for reducing the appearance of surface marks. Found it much more effective than the AutoGlym stuff, and doesn't leave the seats shiney.

I used the cleaner and then conditioner.

However, like Dan said, if the leather is properly scratched (rather than just a mark on the surface), you will need to re-connolisation.

Kint can you post some pics up please or email them to me and i can advise you a bit better.

If the scratches are deep then they would need to be filled first. I use Liquid leather (Gliptone) for repairs and I am pretty sure they do sell a filler also, its not going to be 100% perfect though

Thanks for your input guys.

Jay, I'll have some pics taken and sent your way in due course. Haven't got the car at the moment due to a wheel sensor problem. :dontknow:

Never seen a treatment that lasts or doesn't end up shiny/cracking/peeling... anyone know of a good reconnoliser? (sounds painful!:scared: )

Funnily enough, Connolly were good but went bust in 02. I don't think they did anything particularly special that others couldn't though? Various threads on PH about people who do this.

Klint, sorry for taking so long to respond. Looking at photos the damage doesnt look to bad. Its something you could easily do yourself using Gliptone Liquid Leather Scuff master. Just a case of colour washing the area's with the dye. Very easy to do.

This can be purchased from www.liquidleather.co.uk. Full instructions are included in kit, if you decide to do this yourself and are stuck give me a call qnd I can talk you through the steps.
