King Kong
A detail I was really looking forward to. I have detailed 5 x 997 GT3RS's, 3 orange, 2 black so this was a new experience Viper Green.
It was a private customer but he had insisted that I prepare the car at the OPC before he collected it. The upside of this was there was no swirls inflicted. There were still scratches from the factory and the removal from of the transport plastic removal.
The OPC were very accommodating...use of the wash bay and then their detailing bay. The car was to be quarantined after my detail, they were taking this customer VERY seriously. When I arrived the saleswoman said 'you must be very good...Mr. ******* is our best and most particular customer, he won't settle for anything less the best'...no pressure then!!!
The car was in the wash bay waiting for me...
Inspecting the car there were high levels of adhesive left from the transport plastics.
Wheels washed using P21S Wheel Cleaner.
The interior of the car was unfinished. The customer had spec'd the full cage and aftermarket harnesses. The lower section of the cage wasn't available so the installation was not finished. This meant I could only remove the remaining transport coverings then detail the dash and seats.
So onto the paint preparation. Sonus Green detailing clay. There was little contamination, only occasionally would I hear the 'tick' of a spec of dirt being lifted
The car was now ready for machine polishing. Some would argue that a new car shouldn't need machine polishing. In comparison to a used car there were next to no defects. However this detail was about 110% condition outcome. What defects were present had to go and as the experienced would know, there is nothing like a machine polished surface to bring the absolute best out of a finish. Especially when using one of the best waxes in the world .
Paint levels where much lower than any other Porsche I have done, the nearside bonnet at 80.6 and the offside lower door at 79.6!!! Thats about 50% lower than an average Porsche.
Correction was achieved with a Lake Country Finessing pad and Menzerna Final Finish PO106FA.
The scratches were few and far between, until I got the rear bumper. Strangely it was swirled...on a scale I would guess it would be medium/low. The pics don't show the levels too well as the bay was well lit and the defects were hard to capture on camera, but they were there I wasn't imagining them
Once the polishing stage was completed the paint was prepared using Swissvax Cleaner Fluid applied on the rotary using a Lake Country Final Finishing Pad.
Then the car was ready for one of the best waxes available, Swissvax Divine. Divine demands the best of preparations and is difficult to apply. But with care and no short amount of hard work it produces an absolutely amazingly glossy, deep and durable finishes one can get.
Applied by hand...
Once the Divine was applied and removed the wheels were finished with Swissvax Autobahn Wheel Wax.
The finished car ready for picking up at the weekend....
My favourite shot, it really shows the finish of the Swissvax Divine
Thanks for reading, I hope your enjoyed the read and the pics of a special car
Best regards,
