Car was foamed with AG Powermax and left to dwell for a few minutes to help loosen the build up of grime and dead bugs from heavy track use and then rinsed at high pressure. This was repeated several times.

Once happy with the pre-wash stages vehicle was then washed twice with Megs Hyperwash and a lambs wool washmitt. Vehicle was then rinsed and Tardis was applied to the lower half of the car to remove the bulk of the build up of tar. This was left a for a bit then gently wiped with a soft microfiber. Tardis was also applied to a few other places to remove some stickers found on the car.

Once the exterior wash stages were complete the wheels were removed as the client requested to have the arches cleaned and protected with Bilt Hamber Dynax S50. Arches were cleaned with Bilt Hamber Surfex, Tardis and variour brushes.

Wheels were also cleaned at this point using Epsuma Wheel Revolution and Tardis. Not too much time was spent on these as per client's request as they need refurbing and basically just used for the track. The rears came up as new but the fronts still had some stubborn deposits and did not want to use nothing too strong as the finish on them were already starting to rub away.

The plan was to finish the car off with GTechniq C1 Crystal Lacquer but half way through the detail client decided to get the car half wrapped when I finished with the car and advised me that the wrapping company wanted the paint free of any sealant or wax. However client was unable to get the wrap done when he wanted so a coat of Blackfire Wet Diamond sealant was applied to give the car some protection till it gets it wrap in a week or so time.

Few finished pics.

Nice job.

Funny I used to use the 3M stuff all the time but the DW wonkers used to scorn it as paintshop shite; now its the vogue polish :D Shows how much BS there is this trade.

that looks really lovely,

great car

thanks

Thanks Damon, do you still do any detailing??

Some of the 3m bodyshop range is shite and are full of fillers, Fast Cut Plus and Extra Fine are great products though.

What do you reckon on 3m Ultrafina & the Seta Rosa polish? Great job
Not tried Seta Rosa but i do use Ultrafina and its a good finishing polish for removing holograms, much prefer Menz 85rd though.

You guys do outstanding work, amazing results.
:yeah:
thanks

That's my old car... I miss it lots an lots!!
Not tempted to buy another?:)

Seeing a CSL gleaming like that makes me want one again. Great work. :tu
thanks

FCP is also full of fillers... but its an excellent polish and just needs refining well afterwards.

Question,

Why does a car still need Claying, if you are going to use the machine on the car to remove the swirls anyway ?

Surely the agressive nature of the crystalised polish would still remove the surface crap that the clay does ?

Also, what is the product used for cleaning the inside of the door hinges ?

I bet the crap - old wax etc would dirty the pad too quickly?

any polish/compound has the ability to fill some just have more than others thats why they should be worked for a good length of time and always wiped down after with IPA to ensure pure correction is achieved

Sorry for jumping on Jays thread but im actually at home today and bored :)

Personally I clay before polishing as if i dont then the polish doesnt spread / break down as nicely and you can see all the microscopic bits of dirt still on the panel snagging in the polish. the cleaner and smoother the surface.. the better the polish will then work on the swirls and haze.

I understand that, but if the polish you are using is aggressive enough to bite into the clearcoat of the car, surely it can take off these surface contaminates too at the same time ? :dontknow:

True... and why a good IPA wipe down after is beneficial...

I got caught out the first time i use FCP... Finished the panel and moved on round the car... gave it all a wipe down at the end of polishing and wow... the holograms!! Surprised me that it contained quite that many fillers!

FCP is an aggressive compound so will leave holograms on most paints, on the harder paints it can finish down well if worked long enough but still needs another stage or 2 of machine polishing to achieve a good hologram free finish.. I see guys use FCP and go straight to a finishing polish like 85 or Ultrafina and Im sure if you gave that a IPA wipedown you would see some holograms still as it needs a middle step like Menz 203s/Megs 205 before using 85/ultrafina

How you keeping anyway Nathan??Hope all is well.
