The BHP per £ Budget Challenge

I was pondering what the maximum amount of BHP per £ is based on the smallest monetary outlay is the other day.

So thought I'd throw this challenge out to the masses.

Minimum spend - Maximum BHP

(can include 2nd hand cars but MUST be road legal....ie no 2nd hand santa pod drag cars etc)

I would guess you would go for something like an old V12 jag, maybe XJS.
They are not worth much, so you could get maybe 300bhp (if I remember rightly) for a couple of hundred quid.
However, some serious online autotrader abuse is necessary to see what is possible.

This reminds me of that car program [will edit when I recall name] that did the biggest depreciating car challenge... Merc SEC (600 or summin) won that. :)

Right - really bored so this what I've managed (all from AutoTrader)

3rd Place - 1991 Mitsubishi Sigma 3.0 V6, £500, 202 bhp = £2.47 per bhp

2nd Place - 1989 Audi 90 2.3 20v, £395, 163bhp = £2.42 per bhp

1st Place - 1989 BMW 535i, £375, 211 bhp = £1.77 per bhp :p
