Product Review - P21S Polishing Soap

King Kong
Tim @ CleanYourCar included a surprise item in an order today, P21S Polishing Soap.

I'd never heard of it so assumed it was new, but I understand its a long-standing product.

So I was intrigued to see how it performed. The packaging is very good and the instructions VERY thorough. It even has a Frequently Asked Questions booklet :tu:

Before using it I cleaned the exhaust with Car-Lack68 Special Cleaner. It is a citrus degreaser and very good at getting into the grime.

The product comes with its own applicator sponge. The instructions talk endlessly about the need to wet the sponge, rub in some polishing soap and you MUST squeeze the sponge to froth the soap up before using it. It talks about the risk of scratching. But having used it I believe this to be overkill on their part, its very gentle.

Application is really easier. Its very easy to get full coverage on the metal even in tricky areas like the exhaust on my car.

The instructions say you can let it dry to a haze and buff off or rinse immediately, I went for rinse.

It was interesting to see some beading :D

After use it is important to clean out the sponge. Its a doddle to do as it as quite open and coarse.

I think it is a useful product. Gentle in its nature and very easy to use.

I am looking forward to trying it on a heavy soiled exhaust as I am not sure it will work its way through burnt on fumes. I believe you will still need a paste metal polish that can soak and be worked in with fine wire wool to get through a bad exhaust.

As a general metal polish on wire wheels, metal bumpers etc I think it would be excellent, especially wire wheels. If you can imagine the soapy nature compared to a paste metal polish on those it will be excellent.

What struck me is how little of it I used. One tub will last a very long time IMO. As a regular maintenance item for your metal work its excellent, quick and easy to use.

So a nice little extra in my CarLack-68 order from Tim and I think a nice addition to my detailing kit.

Its available on the CARSparkle site
