Looking after Gelcoat

Ok, done some research and the you should be fine if you stay away from any aggressive polish.

What sort of finish are you looking for? I would use a mild polish by hand then finish with a wax as normal.

A Halfords available combo might be

Autoglym Super Resin Polish
Meguires NXT Wax

Better quality products and thus better finish, so my choice would be

Menzerna Final Finish (PO85U) http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/shop/...ml/menzerna-final-polish-ii-po85u-/p_151.html

And any of the waxes here http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/shop/wax/c_4.html

Each has their own qualities, so you choice will depend on your needs, longevity, shine, heat resitance etc.

Heat resistance is a major issue.
There's no padding or insulation around the exhaust or engine bay and the damn thing spits fire with the slightest blip of the throttle!

Thanks for the advice!
