is that price inclusive of flights and hotel?

We do offer ice sliding in Autria in Jan, but it is fully booked.

There it is cheaper and we offer more options, but the layout and programme is not so comprehensive!

Doesn't look the easiest airport to get to - what flights do your recommend?

Hi Trax,

There are a few airport you can fly to; (non direct from Uk that I know of, all via Arlanda stockholm, Price circa £200.00 return. Its because it i very cloe to the artic circle. transfer time is around 1.25hrs > 2.5hrs depending on which airport you fly into.

Umea and Skelleftea are the closest.

Worth the travel though :)

SAS, Norweigen and wizz Air and ones to look at.....

Or you can go with main carriers to Arlanda Stockholm from most places in the world, then get any of the internal flights northbound.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

GFORCE

Sorry for the thread hijack, will be doing it with Tuthill, have a particular soft spot for aircooled Porsches on ice...

No problem. I follow, remeber watching Harris doing a vid on them there. Very cool. 4x4 scoobies on ice much faster and a lot more focussed than rwd porsches. Different experience fr sure.

Doing it again this year too...such a cool one!!
Looking at first weekend of March atm

I’ve heard only positive about the Tuthill one, really looking forward to it!! Other friends doing an event from Mercedes AMG, but modern heavy electronic filled cars does not interest me at all for the aim of these ice driving events.

We are doing Monday fly in, three days, Friday fly out.

Yeah, likewise, very analogue indeed! Scoobie are unaided group A spec, you, 4x4 differential and spikes!!

Did ice drive Sweden last yr, a lot lot more budget than tuthills or that scooby one, cracking time, tho as expected it was a bit Ryanair type cheap.

Oslo for a couple of nights on way back blew the budget mind! expensive indeed.

I did a little trip report on it for elsewhere, but copied below

Well budget is a relative term in the ice driving lark, but far far cheaper than the far more top end options.

Jump on a plane to Norway- Oslo, get a rental car & scoot 4 ish hrs north.

The lake is just over the border in Sweden. There isn't much around, so choose to stay in the Swedish ski resort of Sälen, about 40mins away

It's snowy

This road has been used on WRC Sweden

To the lake

Sat nav sees this-

Your view is this-

Onto the lake you go sat nav sees this & yes I'm ready for the Jesus waking on water gags!

So day 1 we picked rwd

Tatty old e46 325ti compacts

Our one is particularly battered

Are 4 tracks to choose from, a practice oval with slalom, a donut circle & inner & outer tracks.

Day 2

Anyway the day was a cracking one, snow overnight, cloudy morning then wow- this

Today we chose 4wd, the impezas we chose are broken, so a deal is struck, 4wd bmw xdrive (4wd) in morning then evo rally cars afternoon

Heavy lardy road bmw, fine winter road car I'm sure, but not ideal for this lark, I preferred rwd of yesterday, even if were a bit ropey, we christen the thing the qe2 for she is prone to understeer, tsil will kick out nicely but it is a big old boat & is easy to over cook it, my mate gets it stuck twice!

My pi$$taking is however short-lived, for I just can't get to grips with the evo rally car & I bin that twice! Didn't properly bin the bimmers at all!

What a donut!

Ah well 4wd is for fags anyway! I'm sure I could get to grips with it after a while, but if I'm honest it was a lot trickier to drive that I'd thought it would be & I was going quite a bit quicker hence the offs! But when I got it right it was pretty darn special!

Will go through the vids & see if it came out ok when in blighty.

Ref the outfit, well we had a great time, but it's not perfect, rather a long way off in fact, lordy the outfit could be so much much much much better, it's the Ryanair of ice driving ok fine, I can't justify the BA 1st class, tbe battered compacts I can cope with, but a few little things ref briefings & customer care could make it so much better.

So back to Sälen, ogle the lovey ski lasses again & next day snowmobile fun!

Day dawns beautifully

Onto this little beauty

We go up lovely forest trails & then up over the mountain, no pics of the trails, just up over the mountain.

It's stunning, but soooo cold up the top, I'm not sure how cold, was about minus 7 at the bottom, but up here in the strong wind I dunno feels minus 20, it's probably not, but when I take gloves off to snap these pics & can't feel my hand after a few pics.
