PM speech on green policies confirmed for this afternoon

Rishi Sunak will deliver a speech at 16.30 this afternoon, Downing Street has confirmed.
He is expected to announce a major shift in policy on the climate.
Mr Sunak is expected to confirm that while the UK's commitment to reaching net zero by 2050 remains, a number of green policies will be weakened.
It is thought he will announce the following:
  • Moving the date of banning the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030 to 2035;
  • Dropping the mandate for landlords ensure properties meet a minimum energy efficiency standard;
  • Watering down the target to phase out gas boilers in favour of electric heating;
  • A pledge not to introduce new taxes to discourage flying.

I saw a think the other day saying "If the climate were a bank it would have been bailed out by now"

What a surprise, I never saw that coming…….

Let’s face Boris was making pledges that his successors were going to have to break, it was inevitable from the outset.
