Flappy paddle gearchanges

Help!

I'm desigining my new gearchange cabling and I'm in a bit of a quandry.
Which way round should the paddles go for natural changes?

In the gearstick setup that I'm replacing pulling back changed up but I can't make my mind up which way round works better for steering wheel mounting.
