Buyers who shell out $40,095 (plus what's likely to be a staggering dealer surcharge) for the 2008 Dodge Charger SRT8 can at least rest in the knowledge that the cars they're getting are loaded to the gills with standard features. In fact, there are only three options. For $50, you can upgrade to summer tires (all-season performance rubber is standard). $890 replaces the base head unit with the MyGig infotainment/navigation system, and $950 adds a power sunroof. Everything else is part of the standard equipment list -- even a stint at the SRT Track Experience. Head on over to Allpar to see the complete rundown, which includes the minutiae like "6.1L badge." More info on the Challenger is coming very soon, so keep your eyes peeled as Chrysler gets into full ramp-up-the-excitement mode.

The Audi Club of North America puts out a publication aptly titled the Quattro Quarterly that gives Audi owners the inside skinny on everything from future products to how to swap bigger brakes into their B5 S4. One of our intrepid readers, Kevin, sent us a few scans of the QQ's latest issue, where it outlines Audi's product plans for the next five years. While some of it has already been confirmed, other interesting factoids, including the future of the R8, RS-TT and the development of an R4, have long been rumored on these very pages. Follow the jump for the full breakdown on what Audi has in store, but be aware that we're handing out grains of salt below the fold.Continue reading Quattro Quarterly lays out Audi's five-year plan for world domination

Autoblog: Lamborghini wants to sell 20% more cars without creating a third model

Lamborghini's pushing to ring up 3,000 sales per year, about 500 more than they currently move. Were they to drop a new Miura, revived LM002, or some other new model, they'd likely reach that target without any problem. Lambo Capo Rupert Stadler isn't in favor of spending the considerable development dollars it would take to bring a new model to market. Before coming out with a new car, it's more prudent for Lamborghini to sell its capacity of Murcielagos and Gallardos first.

So, if you're not coming out with a new car, but you want to move more units, what's an automaker to do? We somehow doubt that LP640s and Reventons will be showing up in rental fleets, and there's no such thing as incentives when it comes to supercars, so that strategy's out, too. Extra-special editions of the already special Italian cars, like the Murcielago SV and Superleggera versions of both vehicles should entice more buyers to pony up. If that doesn't work, they could always have a "push, pull or tow" event.

Autoblog: Hyundai releases more details about Genesis, including logo

genesis_logo_hyundai_450-op.jpg

December is a dark time for automotive news, and with that in mind, we present to you Hyundai's logo for its forthcoming Genesis sedan. The bewinged hexagon will be fitted to the luxury cruiser's stem and stern, but only in the Chinese and Korean markets. Close call, since we were about to remark about how the badge was derivative on a good day and patently gaudy the other six days of the week.

More important than the logo, which Hyundai describes as symbolizing "the spirt [sic] of flight and soaring above it all" (seriously, it's in the press release post jump), is Hyundai's announcement that both 3.3- and 3.8-liter V6 Lambda engines will be available in place of the range topping, 375 hp Tau V8. Although they mention that the V8 will come with a six-speed auto 'box, they didn't elaborate on how many ratios would be available on the base models.Continue reading Hyundai releases more details about Genesis, including logo

Autoblog: Tycoons catered to at Detroit Auto Show

Filed under: Detroit Auto Show, Etc., Bentley, Lamborghini, Maserati, Maybach, Rolls-Royce, Ferrari
Has Porsche's declined invitation spurred the lodge members behind the Detroit Auto Show to showcase their appeal to luxury brands? So that might not be the reason, but the NAIAS brain trust has put together a private soiree that will highlight the other exclusive marques, like Bentley, Ferrari, and Maybach.

NAIAS Senior Co-Chairman Carl Galeana said, "This unique event was designed for those individuals who favor high-end, luxury vehicles and wish to have a special preview of the elite vehicles on display." That isn't exactly true, because we favor high-end, luxury vehicles and we didn't get an invite. Which means this event is strictly for those that have a different working definition of "liquid" than we do.

So far, 200 plutocrats and Big Bank Hanks have been offered access to The Gallery. To also feature music and gourmet food, as well as the opportunity to meet company executives and designers, the invite-only event takes place the evening of Jan. 13 on the show floor.
