Hi All

Thought I would share this Aston Martin DBS with you all.

This saw 2 days of detailing to get it looking its best again.

The most prevelant type of scratch on this vehicle were DA (Dual Action) sanding marks from the factory (very common on Aston Martins).

Also signs that the paint has been machined polished previously by someone with very little knowledge of how to machine polish correctly. You can see the swirls and the slight holograming

Carbon black paint is VERY soft and can mark very easily even from using the safest wash techniques so great care is needed maintaining it. This car was previously detailed about 6 months ago by another "detailing company" and since then the paintwork has picked up substantial amount of defects from the client washing the car so was a bit cautious about spending more money to get it looking its best again only for it too look a mess again in a few months time..

Few options were given to client to resolve the problem with the soft paint -

1. Get paint perfect and then have Paint Protection Film applied to most/all of the car

2. Get paint perfect and have Gtechniq C1 applied and he would have to spend a bit more time carefully washing and drying the car.

Client decided on option 2 - we would get the paint in perfect order and then have it sealed with Gtechniq C1 Crystal Lacquer as it is extremely effective at preventing MINOR scratching / marring from poor wash techniques on relatively soft automotive paint and provides 3+ years of protection.

Below is a few "before" and "after" shots during the paint correction stages

The carbon fiber wing mirrors and diffuser were also polished to improve clarity

Once all the defects were removed from the paintwork a final stage of machine polishing was done to restore clarity and gloss.

Once all the machine polishing stages were complete the vehicle was blown with compressed air to remove any particles of dust and then carefully given a wipe down to remove any traces of polish.

Gtechniq C1 was applied to all paintwork , wheels and calipers.

Thanks for looking

Jay, more stunning work and the cars not bad too! How warm do you have to have the garage to apply C1? I'm thinking of applying it to the GTR but costs involved in travelling etc means it will be DIY (and I quite like doing it too!). Thanks Scott

Thanks Scott,

Get the garage as warm as you can - applying c1 in this weather it will take awhile for it to fully cure so best to leave the car in garage for 24 hours after application if you can. In the warmer months it only takes about 3 hours for it to fully cure.

Thanks Jay, exactly what I was looking for. I only ever polish/lsp in the garage so shouldn't provide any problems, cheers.

I hear a C1 alternative will be out soon - easier to apply, more shiny, more durable etc.

Good job :tu
