997TT remapping, keeps ECU standard !!

pht9

Boy Racer
Following on from clients demands for products that have minimal effect on their warranty, we can now offer a remapping device that does not require ECU reprogramming or flashing, and retains the originality of a vehicle.

The device is acceptable for our TECHART MBI warranty policy.

The eXpedio device links into the original wiring harness with OE plugs, takes 15 minutes to install or remove, and when necessary can be removed from the vehicle, with no obvious signs that a performance increase was present.

The performance gains are outstanding, standard power is increased from 480bhp to 530 bhp, and torque also increases from 620Nm to 760Nm.

A link to our website page can be found below

http://www.tech9motorsport.com/Tech_9_Motorsport/eXpedio.html

The USP with this product is that when you wish to sell the vehicle, the hardware can be removed, and possibly resold, so some revenue can be generated against the initial investment.
Fitiing is very easy, and can be carried out by a competent owner, or your local specialist.

The eXpedio device retails at £1995 + VAT.

Sounds great Phil.

Although, isn't it still the case that the ecu can record
that the boost levels are higher than sandard ?

Would you be willing to give a written guarantee, if
the worst happened, and Porsche threw out a claim due to
detecting some tampering ???

Recording actual values whilst a car is 'remapped' will show an increase in boost, but once our device is removed, there is no reference in the ECU to show boost levels, other than actual values during datalogging or recording a road test.
It can be detected if an ECU has had a 'reflash' as it records this, hence anyone that has had their car remapped, with a promise that it can be returned to standard at a later date, runs the risk of Porsche detecting this, quite easily. Our device does not modify the ECU or its software.

I cannot control what a third party (ie Porsche) would or would not do. My claim is that it cannot be detected that our module was ever fitted.

So is this effectively a "Voltage Clamp" type device then. That way the ECU only ever sees the values that it needs within its service guidelines ??

that's a lot of £ for a tuning box

wouldn't it just be cheaper and better to fit a programmable ecu like an OMEX or MBE?

Not nearly sophisticated enough to run a Porsche Turbo let alone interface with the Can systems.Omex & MBE are barely intelligent enough to run my washing machine on a cold cycle.

Is it cheap? ...No. But in the absence of any realistic warranty preserving alternative it is priced at the right level. It's certainly cheaper than fitting & mapping an aftermarket ECU capable of running a 997turbo lump.

Sounds like a great product to me.

Thanks for the comments, some interesting points.

I have not launched the marketing campaign for this product yet, but thought I would try it first here on PGT, as always a response is gained that can prove valuable for marketing

I note the comments about pricing, I did research our competitors before arriving at the price we have set. It is very noticeable that in Europe the tuners charge significantly more than the UK for remaps, example

Cargraphic - €4040
FVD - €3564
MTM - €3900

In the UK, comparables are

Revo - £1840
DMS - £1955

Our price of £2294, compares very favourably in the UK market, as you are investing in a piece of hardware (cabling and eXpedio device) that when removed has a resale value, plus the USP of the car remaining 100% standard.
For a client that has a reflashed ECU, it CAN BE DETECTED that it has been done. I have seen many cars in our workshop where the ECU has been opened so that the programmer could connect to the board to reflash. Any warranty claims for these cars will be rejected by an OPC without question. Even if done through the OBD port, the ECU logs the flash attempts, again, this information can easily be read by an OPC through the PIWIS workshop diagnostic tool.

i dunno, but my view on Porsches today is this:

if you are concerned about preserving the warranty, then don't service or touch the car outside of the OPC network. This is purely a function of the ridiculous demands of the new Porsche Warranty, and the risk of the high costs in repair/replacement parts+labour you would be on the hook for should Porsche 'find' anything to nullify your warranty.

if you can accept your car is not going to be warrantied or is at high risk of failing a warranty 'check', then you may as well tune to your hearts content and modify a TT well beyond it's already prodigious power/handling capabilities. Don't do a compromised job, and go for the meanest, baddest, most powerful tuning option available. undoubtedly, this will also mean you having very deep pockets, but I guess this goes with the territory.

just mho

Tech 9 eXpedio - release the performance...

Tech 9 can take the already impressive performance of your Porsche to another level with the addition of Tech 9's eXpedio module.
eXpedio provides all the benefits of an aftermarket remap without altering the settings within the ECU, leaving your car 100% standard, as the device can be easily removed and reinstalled in minutes.

Uniquely in the tuning market Tech 9 has worked to negate the obvious downsides of the alternative remapping solutions:

‣The module is non-intrusive to the ECU. Leaving a 100% standard car upon removal. All other available remaps applied to an ECU can be detected, no matter what the provider tells you.
‣The performance gains are achieved from a combination of optimisation of the fuel and ignition map, with no increase in boost pressure. Thus removing the additional strain on the engine and crucially the turbos. Most other tuners rely on increasing the boost and stress your car more.
‣Because of the removal option there is residual value in the eXpedio module. Unlike an ECU remap when you change your car you can keep or sell your eXpedio module. You can even contact us to see if we will purchase it.

All of this means that no additional stress is placed on the mechanical components, plus a much smoother power delivery compared with the existing products on the market
The eXpedio is available now for the 997 Turbo and the Cayenne Diesel. We are currently testing our 997 GT2 module so please contact us for launch information.
You can opt to install the eXpedio module yourself, it is easy to do and saves you the trip to our facility. Contact us now and we will send you your module.

Fitting plus full diagnostics check with the official Porsche PIWIS diagnostics device are free of charge if Tech 9 fit the module.

For further information please contact Tech 9 on 0151 4255 911, or email sales@tech9.ms

“The Tech 9 eXpedio module makes the already immense power more available from lower down in the rev range. It provides effortless overtaking and a noticeable increase in torque – it makes an already superb car into an awesome weapon. This car should be like this as standard, thank you Tech 9”
MC, 997 Turbo

“I am very happy with the performance gains from the eXpedio unit. I also wanted a better sound from the car so chose the TECHART sports exhaust and cats. The performance is outstanding, the sound matches how the car feels; it is a different car”
DJ, 997 Turbo
